FORMULA SAE AT MSU
Chase the Cold Smoke
Montana FSAE, located on Montana State University Bozeman campus, is MSU’s premier automotive engineering club. Having competed most recently in the ‘24-’25 and ‘25-’26 season, we are looking towards the ‘26-’27 competition to big goals and even bigger dreams. As our members start working hard at their design and manufacturing skills we look past internal development to expanding our outreach across both campus and Bozeman. Throughout these years we have learned from those willing to help us, from other teams to mentor, and we cannot wait to provide the same kind of help to anyone who reaches out and asks, repaying the kindness others have granted us.
Formula SAE
Formula SAE is a collegiate design competition organized by the International Society of Automotive Engineers. In this competition, students from universities all around the country are tasked with designing and building a formula-style racecar. Within this competition, students apply classroom knowledge to real world applications that bolster their ability to communicate and work in teams. Leadership roles in the team further allow students to build professional relationships and develop skills in project and business management.
