Meet the Individuals Behind Your Favorite Montana Formula Team

Montana FSAE offers numerous opportunities to develop a student’s leadership skills. These positions teach students how to effectively communicate, how to manage projects, and teaches them confidence in their abilities. Leadership prides themselves on their collaboration, not only with each other but also with the club as a whole. We allow anyone who has been in the club for a year to run for a leadership position.

There are two ways that a student can be involved in leadership!

Officers

There’s seven officer positions in Montana FSAE: President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, Chief Engineer, Shop Foreman, and Logistics Coordinator. Each position serves a critical role in making sure meetings and the team run smoothly. They are the primary decision-making unit of the team, though most decisions are made by Leadership as a whole unit rather than simply officers. The only roles that have specific requirements for running for are President and Chief Engineer, as that requires having served a prior role in leadership in the club before running for the role. Meet the Officers below!

Team Leads

There are eleven subsystem leads divided between seven subsystems: Aerodynamics, Business, Chassis, Ergonomics, Electrical Systems, Drivetrain, and Steering-Suspension-and-Brakes. These leads manage each subsystem and ensure that the subsystem is on track with due dates for design, and manufacturing. The leads also ensure quality of their subsystem and it’s products, reviewing design and approving it when they see fit. Our leads tend to be our most senior of engineers with the most experience in SAE competitions out of everyone else in the club. Anyone in the club after their first year is allowed to run for a Team Lead position! Meet our current leads below!
